Best for: Small offices and shops fixing dead zones on Gigabit-or-slower broadband, ideally with Ethernet between nodes, per Dong Knows Tech.

The TP-Link Deco X55 three-pack is a Wi-Fi 6 mesh system covering up to 6,500 sq ft, with three Gigabit Ethernet ports on every node. It is the straightforward fix for dead zones in a small office or shop. The one thing to know: it is Wi-Fi 6, not 6E or 7, which is fine for most premises but not the latest standard.

Is the Deco X55 enough for a small office?

  • Three nodes with wired backhaul supported and recommended for the most stable performance.
  • Three Gigabit ports per node means tills, printers and desktops can be wired locally.
  • HomeShield Pro security features are a paid subscription.
  • TP-Link's US market position has faced government scrutiny since late 2024; regulated buyers may prefer eero or UniFi.

Pricing reads: See current price on Amazon. A 2-pack exists for smaller premises, and the Deco BE25 is the Wi-Fi 7 sibling. It appears in our 10-person office tech kit; browse everyday tech.

Who should skip it

Anyone with multi-gigabit internet or dozens of Wi-Fi 7 devices should look at the eero Pro 7. Anyone needing VLANs and local management should buy UniFi.

What reviewers say

  • Windows Central said "TP-Link has knocked it out of the park here", praising the Deco app setup and solid speeds, with price its main reservation. (Windows Central, Feb 2022)
  • HighSpeedInternet.com rated it 3.75/5, measuring 739 Mbps close to a node falling to 373 Mbps in distant rooms; it flags the mandatory TP-Link ID account and the HomeShield Pro subscription for advanced security and parental controls. (HighSpeedInternet.com, Feb 2025)
  • Dong Knows Tech reviewed the Deco X55 Pro sibling (the same AX3000 radios with 2.5GbE instead of Gigabit ports) at 8.3/10: reliable over wired backhaul with about 5,000 sq ft from three units, but wireless backhaul loses more than half the bandwidth at the satellites. (Dong Knows Tech, Jul 2023)

Consensus: The available reviews agree the X55 is an easy, reliable Wi-Fi 6 mesh that performs best with Ethernet between nodes. The caveats are shared too — a cloud account is compulsory, security extras cost a subscription, and wireless-only satellites are middling. Coverage from the major labs is thin for this exact model.
