The Logitech M185 is the plain office mouse: a 2.4GHz wireless mouse with a USB-A nano receiver, an ambidextrous shape and a single AA battery that Logitech says lasts about 12 months. It is what a small business buys ten of without thinking. The one thing to know is that it is USB-A only, with no Bluetooth.

Is the M185 the right mouse to standardise on?

  • 1,000 DPI sensor, three buttons, no side buttons: enough for spreadsheets and browsers.
  • The nano receiver stays in the laptop; USB-C-only machines need a dongle or the Bluetooth M196 instead.
  • Colour variants are separate listings.
  • The MK270 keyboard-and-mouse combo is the same idea for a full desk.

Who should skip it

Anyone on a USB-C-only laptop, or who wants side buttons, a rechargeable battery or a quieter click, should look at Logitech's Bluetooth or MX ranges.
