Best for: Per reviewers: small businesses wanting CRM, invoicing, inventory and more in one suite, growing app by app, ideally with a partner.
Odoo is a modular business suite: CRM, accounting, invoicing, inventory, e-commerce, HR and more than 40 other apps that share one database and can be switched on one at a time. It exists as an open-source Community edition you host yourself and as Odoo Online, the hosted Enterprise version. For small businesses the one thing to know is that you can run a single app free forever and add the rest when you need them.
Pricing: a one-app free plan, then the Standard plan at about $25 per user per month for the whole suite (Odoo pricing, August 2026). Every user pays once regardless of how many apps they use.
The modular approach means a company can start with CRM, add invoicing in month three and inventory in year two without migrating. The trade-off: individual modules are shallower than specialist products, and larger implementations usually involve a partner.

Businesses that only need accounting will find QuickBooks or FreshBooks simpler. Organisations wanting an open-source ERP with no per-user fee at all should compare ERPNext.
Research-based listing — not hands-on tested by Digital4All; details as of September 2026.
Reviewers agree on Odoo's appeal, one database under dozens of apps, and on its risk, which is that cost and complexity grow with every app and customisation.
Consensus: strong fit for a small business that wants one suite and will grow into it; the sources disagree on how quickly the per-app, per-user model becomes expensive, and Capterra reviewers are the most critical of support and upgrade costs.
