Best for: Owner-managed WordPress sites where non-developers need to build and edit professional pages themselves.
Elementor is the most widely used WordPress page builder, and for a reason: it turns WordPress's blank theme canvas into a live drag-and-drop design surface that non-developers can genuinely use. For a small business already committed to WordPress, Elementor Pro is the fastest route to a professional-looking site without hiring a developer for every change.

The free version is a real product — the core builder and basic widgets carry a simple site a long way. Pro adds the pieces business sites actually need: the theme builder (headers, footers, archive templates), forms, popups, WooCommerce widgets and the template library. Pricing is per-site per-year and remains modest against the cost of custom development.
The criticisms are worth taking seriously. Builder markup is heavier than hand-coded themes or native block editing, so performance needs active management (caching, image optimisation, restraint with animations). Deeply built pages create a form of soft lock-in — leaving Elementor later means rebuilding. And it inherits every maintenance obligation of WordPress itself. Our view: for owner-managed WordPress sites it is the pragmatic choice; for performance-critical builds, a developer with native blocks or a lighter theme will do better.
Full hands-on testing of Elementor AI is in progress; this profile reflects documented capabilities and our experience maintaining client sites built on Elementor Pro.
