Our verdict

For operational automation — our pick: Make. Routers, iterators, native error handling and an HTTP module that reaches any API make it close to a low-code integration platform, and at meaningful volume it commonly costs a quarter to a third of equivalent Zapier spend. The learning curve is real; for the workflows a business depends on, it is worth two weeks of anyone’s time.

For non-technical self-service: Zapier. If automations only happen when office managers and marketers can build them unaided, Zapier’s linear editor and 7,000-app catalogue are decisive — an automation that exists beats a more elegant one that never gets built.
