Best for: Existing SwitchBot owners — Bot, Curtain, Lock — who want Matter control plus a real sensor and a physical dial, and who do not need a Thread border router.
The Hub 3 is SwitchBot's attempt to make one device do the jobs that usually take three. It is a Matter controller and bridge, so SwitchBot's own kit and third-party devices appear in Apple Home, Alexa or Google; it has an infrared blaster for air conditioners, TVs and other legacy remotes; it carries built-in temperature, humidity, light and presence sensors; and it adds a physical rotary dial and display for the people in the house who will never open an app.
SwitchBot lists it at $119.99, confirmed on switch-bot.com in September 2026, and it is discounted often enough that paying full price is usually avoidable. The product page describes Matter control across brands — Hue and IKEA lighting included — for 30 or more devices.
The trade-off is what the extra hardware costs you. The Hub 2 sits around $69.99 and does the bridging job; the dial, the display and the sensor package are what the difference buys. Reviewers who found the Hub 3 over-ambitious were making a fair point about that gap. The other specification to check is Thread: the Hub 3 is a Matter controller, not a Thread border router, so it will not extend a Thread mesh for you.
Not tested hands-on. Compiled from the vendor's published specifications and the 2026 review coverage cited above, researched August 2026, with price and Matter device support re-checked against switch-bot.com in September 2026. There is no Digital4All score on this listing: our scores mean hands-on testing, and we will not imply testing we have not done.
