NordLayer is the business networking product from Nord Security, the company behind NordVPN. It provides a managed VPN and zero-trust network access for teams: dedicated servers with fixed IP addresses, per-user access to company resources, device posture checks and a central admin panel. It is aimed at small companies with remote staff who need secure access without a network engineer. The one thing to know is that there is a five-user minimum.

Where does NordLayer fit for a 10-person team?

  • Pricing: from about $8–10 per user per month with a five-user minimum (NordLayer pricing, August 2026). There is no free tier.
  • A fixed-IP gateway lets you whitelist one address on your accounting system, CRM or cloud servers instead of managing dozens of home IPs.
  • Admins add and remove users centrally, which is the difference from handing everyone a consumer VPN login.
  • It sits in our Cybersecurity & IT category next to NordVPN, Surfshark and 1Password.

For fully remote teams working from cafés and hotels, this is the cheapest realistic step towards a managed network perimeter.

Who should skip it

Teams under five people cannot buy fewer seats than the minimum. Businesses whose applications are all cloud SaaS with strong single sign-on may not need a network layer at all.
