ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium

The ecobee Smart Thermostat Premium is a smart thermostat that ships with a remote room sensor and a built-in air-quality monitor, and works natively with Apple Home, Google Home, Alexa and SmartThings. It is the obvious not-Nest choice for Apple Home households and small offices. The one thing to know is that it is built for North American 24V HVAC systems.

Is the ecobee Premium the right thermostat?

• Priced at $259.99 on ecobee.com (August 2026).
• Wirecutter's top pick and a CNET Editors' Choice for 2026.
• The bundled SmartSensor lets it heat or cool the occupied room rather than the hallway.
• Energy-saving figures quoted by ecobee depend on climate and habits; treat them as the manufacturer's estimate.

For Gulf, UK or European readers with different HVAC wiring, it is not the right product. Browse home automation for region-neutral controls.

Who should skip it

Anyone outside the US or Canada, or without a 24V system, should not buy it. Google-first households may prefer the Nest Learning Thermostat.
